Challenges
The United States Air Force (USAF) sought to efficiently deploy infrastructure and applications across both AWS and Azure cloud platforms while preserving investments in AWS amidst new Azure contracts, and minimizing costs and manual efforts. A major challenge faced by the USAF was efficiently managing hybrid cloud deployments across both AWS and Azure platforms, which involved deploying infrastructure and applications while ensuring consistency and minimizing manual efforts. Additionally, the USAF needed to address concerns about potentially losing previous investments in AWS due to new contracts with Azure. Furthermore, optimizing software deployment and maintenance costs, which accounted for half of the overall software expenditure, was crucial.
Our Answer
To tackle these challenges, the USAF adopted Arganteal’s ADepT, to streamline integration and deployment across AWS and Azure platforms, consolidating scripts for universal use and eliminating the need for specialized expertise in each platform.
By breaking down 200 hours of scripting into functional libraries, Arganteal facilitated seamless integration into diverse deployment workflows. This allowed the USAF to slash deployment times to under ten minutes across 19 APIs, simplifying the process while maintaining efficiency. It also enabled deployment across AWS and Azure without requiring platform-specific knowledge.
Business Outcomes
- Preservation of Investments: Seamless integration of Azure without compromising existing AWS investments ensured continuity and maximized returns. With ADepT, each deployment saves $10,000, with savings compounding with successive use,Increased Efficiency and Cost Savings: Reduced resource costs by 90% and increasing deployment speed by up to 90%.
- Accelerated Deployment and Simplified Processes: Standardized workflows and automation capabilities slashed deployment times from hours to minutes while simplifying procedures, leading to significant operational efficiencies, cost savings, and error reduction.
- Elimination of Expert Dependency: A unified deployment framework eliminated the need for separate subject matter experts in AWS and Azure, reducing reliance on specialized expertise for each deployment.
- Standardization and Consistency: ADepT enforced standardization and consistency in hybrid cloud deployments, ensuring reliability and scalability across diverse scenarios, thereby enhancing overall operational resilience and adaptability.
